Refrain from Anger

Bible Text: Psalm 37:8

In anger we tend to do inexplicable things. Things we would never do in a clear mind. Anger when not controlled, leads us to evil. Conflicts and misunderstandings arise from anger that was not able to be controlled.
Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;do not fret—it leads only to evil. (Psalm 37)

Situations will always arise that will cause us to be angry. However we should not let the sun set on our anger. Controlling our temper is a kingdom requirement.
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. (James 1:19-20)

Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end. (Proverbs 29:11)
To better control our anger we have to gain wisdom and this wisdom comes from God. In building a close relationship with God, he shapes and molds us, giving us a new identity in Him. We gain wisdom that builds our character. In this Wisdom, all bad habits and attitudes that are not pleasing to his sight are washed away. We become wise, giving us the ability to bring calm instead of fully satisfying our rage.

We should seek to get rid of anger from our lives. In wisdom we will be able to identify the cause of our anger, situations that cause this anger to come alive, and with God's help we will work on how best to control our anger.

Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger,
brawling and slander,
along with every form of malice.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I commit my life in your hands. I come to you today and ask that you give me the wisdom to battle all forms of anger in my life. In all things help me to act wisely and produce the righteousness that you desire.

And unto Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we could ever ask or think, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.

Amen!
