When we fall far from God's will our guilt causes us to write ourselves off. We feel our sin is unforgivable.
Judas Iscariot felt this way. He had betrayed his master for 30 silver coins. After realising what he had done, he tried to fix it in his own terms. He went to return the bribe money to the Chief Priests and the Elders which did not turn out so well for him.
(Matthew 27:3)
Eventually his guilt led him to take his own life.
This is not the way God wants his children to deal with their sin. When we sin against God and we realise our mistake ,we should be remorseful and ask for God's forgiveness.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9). God is bigger than anything we could ever imagine, and in the same way he is bigger than the greatest sin we think we have committed. He says we should confess our sins to him and he is faithful and just to forgive us. If God is ready to forgive us then why should we condemn ourselves and refuse to forgive ourselves, but rather continue sinning or even in the worst scenario take our own lives as Judas did, just because we think our sins are too big for God to forgive. He will completely clear our sins from our identity, and we will rather bear his identity as children of the most High God.
He will again have compassion on us; He will tread our iniquities under foot. Yes, You will cast all [a]their sins Into the depths of the sea (Micah 7:19)
However, this love that God has towards us that causes Him to cast our sins into the depths of the sea does not warrant us to keep on sinning, all because we know that He is able to forgive us. Jesus forgave the adulterous woman who was brought before him to be stoned, and more importantly he left her with these words, Go and sin no more. (John 8:11)
Jesus is able to take away all our sins, washing us white as snow. Whoever the son sets free is free indeed. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. (Isaiah 1:18). It is never too late to be washed in the blood of the Lamb.
Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing pow’r?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you washed in the blood,
In the soul-cleansing blood of the Lamb?
Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
In the soul-cleansing blood of the Lamb?
Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I commit my life in your hands. I confess my sins today, Forgive me and wash me as white as snow.
And unto Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we could ever ask or think, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.
And unto Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we could ever ask or think, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.
Amen!
