Living for God

Bible Text: 1 Peter 4:7

The first steps that are seen of a Christian that has decided to live for God is that of seperation from the world. Therefore, "Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you." (2 Corinthians 6:17)

This seperation is necessary in order to set us apart from the world, that we may be witnesses to them unto Christ. We must leave the life we used to live behind. For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. (1 Peter 4:3)


This passage goes on to speak about the most spoken about reason why we have to be seperated from the world; The End is Near! We are therefore called to be alert and sober minded. Having set aside the things of the past and putting on the new man, Christ, we are to live for God through seperation from the world. This will ensure that we can keep a continuous communication link to God through prayer.  Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. (1 John 2:15)

We are then commanded to show love to each other, be hospitable, use our gifts to serve each other faithfully, when we speak we should speak as one who speaks the very words of God, and serve with the strength God provides. 

It is not enough to be seperated from the world but the Christ-like characteristics should also be in us. Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin. 2 As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. (1 Peter 4:1-2)

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I commit my life in your hands. As i set myself apart from the world, help to be your witness getting people ready because the end is near. 

And unto Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we could ever ask or think, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.
