My Father's house has many rooms

Bible Text: John 14:1-4

The disciples had followed Jesus through out all his ministry. Through all the miracles, provision and had their lives changed through his ministry. Here was Jesus now, predicting his own death. That must have been too much to take in. He was to die and leave them. What would be their fate, who would be their shepherd.

This world is not our home, we are citizens of heaven. Our lives should therefore reflect this citizenship. For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; (Phillipians 3:20). As we await the Saviour we should set ourselves apart for God, serving him wholeheartedly.

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
(2 Corinthians 7:1)

Jesus assured his disciples that he is not abandoning them but he is rather going to prepare a place for them. As we await the coming of Jesus, he is preparing a place for us also. We have an inheritance awaiting us. As we wait we should live lives fit for this inheritance. We should put away all things that will cut us away from receiving this inheritance.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, (1 Peter 1:3-4)

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I commit my life in your hands. As I wait for you to come take me back home, help me to not grow impatient but wait for you.

And unto Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we could ever ask or think, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.
Amen!
