Closer to Jesus

Bible Text: James 4:8

In every relationship the closeness of the couple is a measure of the strength of the relationship.
It is unusual to maintain a good and effective relationship with the absence of oneness in thought, vision, and way of life which signifies closeness.

The emphasis on the necessity of closeness even in human relationships concludes that to have good a relationship with our God we need to get closer and closer everyday.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.(James 4:8)

Our closeness to God results in him also drawing near to us. He is ever ready to build a rapport with us that can never be broken. We are the bride and Jesus is the bridegroom. Which bride stays away from her bridegroom unless in uncontrollable situations.

We draw near to God by studying his Word and obeying it. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. (Joshua 1:8)

We also draw near to God by living for Him.  Finally, dear brothers and sisters,[a] we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you. You live this way already, and we encourage you to do so even more. (1 Thessalonians 4:1)

When we draw near to God and he draws near to us we are able to identify those areas in our lives that do not please him and are able to deal with them through his delivering power.  Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded

When we draw nearer to God we are able to
 build stronger relationships with ou
r neighbours and reflect the light of Christ to the World

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I commit my life in your hands. As I draw closer to You each day Lord let your light be seen in me.

And unto Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we could ever ask or think, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.

Amen!
