Don't Do Your Good Deeds Publicly

Bible Text: Matthew 6:1

Everyone loves to receive praise and be acknowledged for an act performed. Its a good feeling which unfortunately results in pride.

We mostly notice how people give to a worthy cause and make sure it is publicised by the media.

Far from a bigger setting we find ourselves helping others and making sure that everyone else around us knows the help came from us, mostly when those we help turn to become ungrateful.

These things happen, however we as God's children should not be found doing same.

Whatever we have we received from God. We are only stewards of God's blessings therefore we should not seek acknowledgement and be filled with pride when we offer these things we ourselves received to those who are in need.  For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?
(1 Corinthians 4:7)

We should not let our left hand know of any act of kindness we perform. Only by this can we gain our reward from our heavenly father.  But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing (Matthew 6:3)

“Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I commit my life in your hands. Let me be a good steward of the many blessings you have given me. Giving to others not full of pride but filled with gratitude to you Oh Lord!

And unto Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we could ever ask or think, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.

Amen!
