By His Stripes We are Healed

Bible Text: Isaiah 53:5

Jesus’ ministry was characterized by his compassion towards the sick. On several occasions those with various illnesses were brought to Jesus, the Great Physician, for healing. They knew that Jesus could do something about their predicament.

“Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security” (Jeremiah33:6)  These were the words of God to Jeremiah on his restoration plan for Israel.

Our health is of utmost concern to God. In as much as Christ’s death on the cross brought us spiritual healing from sin, Jesus’ ministry depicted that this healing also included physical healing from diseases.

The healing of the centurion’s servant (Matthew 8:5-13), The healing of the blind (Luke 7:21), The healing of the demon possessed man  (Mark 5:1-20), The healing of Jairus’ daughter (Matthew 9:18-26), The healing of the man at the pool (John 5:1-18).

The list is endless. We too can receive our healing in the name of Jesus. All we need is to exercise our faith. “He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 7:20

But he was wounded for our transgressions,
he was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him;
and with his stripes we are healed.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I commit my life in your hands. Everywhere you went you were doing good. Almighty Healer, heal all my diseases and set me free.

And unto Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we could ever ask or think, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.

Amen!
