Praise Ye the Lord

Bible Text: Acts 16:25-34

Paul cast out a demon possessed girl who worked as a soothsayer for her masters and brought them much fortune. Her masters upon hearing what Paul had done, worked out a plan and got Paul and Silas thrown into prison.

Paul and Silas in chains were in prison, for no evil act but for casting out a demon. In prison however, they did a stunning thing, they began to pray and sing praises to God. And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. (Acts 16:25)

Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. (Psalm 150:1) This call to praise God is not circumstance-dependent. When we find ourselves in situations that overwhelm us we do not see it necessary to praise God. We praise God because of who He is not because of what we are going through. In all things we have to praise God.

Their Praise caused the foundation of the prison to shake, doors were opened and chains were broken. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed. (Acts 16:26)

Praise can change situations. When we respond to this call to praise God in the good and the bad, he will show himself Faithful to us. We Praise God through our way of life, by the way we love him and love others, by giving our bodies as living sacrifices to God. Our everyday should be full of praise to God. He alone deserves all our praise.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I commit my life in your hands. Mighty Warrior, Awesome God receive my praise this day. You who broke chains and set the captives free, show yourself faithful in my situation. All praise Indeed belongs to You.

And unto Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we could ever ask or think, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.

Amen!
